Biogas Programme
- Small Biogas Plants (1 M3 to 25 M3): PEDA has been promoting the installation of small biogas plants for Years under National Biogas Programme to provide clean gaseous fuel mainly for cooking and lighting purposes in rural areas. Under the new scheme for the period of 2021-22 to 2025-26, the scope of the scheme has been revised with enhanced financial assistance for the setting up of biogas plants from 1 to 25 cubic meter biogas per day.
- Medium Size Biogas Plants (25 M3 to 2500 M3): Similarly, for medium size biogas plants in the capacity range of 25 M3 to 2500 M3 per day biogas generation for decentralized power generation and thermal energy applications in the range of 3 kW to 250 kW are subsidized by GOI.
- Setting up of biogas plants for clean cooking fuel, lighting, meeting thermal and small power needs of users which results in GHG reduction, improved sanitation, women empowerment and creation of rural employment.
- Organic enriched Bio-manure: The digested slurry from biogas plants, a rich source of manure, shall benefit farmers in supplementing / reducing of use of chemical fertilizers.
- Beneficiary should have their own land/ space about 50-60 Square meter area for installing small biogas plants (1 to 25 M3) and accordingly for medium biogas plants (25 to 2500 M3).
- Availability of cow dung/ feedstock and regular equal quantity of water supply.
- Financial capacity for investing their own share money for biogas plant.
- For small biogas plants (1-25 cubic meter/day plant capacity): Rs. 9800/- to Rs. 52,800/- per plant based on size of the plant in cubic meter for general/OBC Category but Rs. 17,000/- to Rs. 70,400/- for SC/ST Category and additional subsidy is provided if the biogas plant is linked with sanitary toilet or MNRE approved biogas slurry filter unit.
- For Power generation and thermal application (25 – 2500 cubic meter/day plant capacity): Rs. 35,000/- to Rs. 45,000/- per kilowatt for power generation and Rs. 17,500 /- to Rs. 22,500/- per kilowatt equivalent for thermal applications (The eligible CFA would be 20% higher than Standard CFA in for NER, Island, Registered Gaushalas and SC/ST beneficiaries).
- The CFA can be availed on reimbursement basis after successful construction and commissioning of the project in all respect. The Central Financial Assistance shall be released to the beneficiary’s Bank account.
